The industry standard is 1 cubic inch of space for every 1 pound of healthy
weight. This industry standard should only be used as a guide in determining the approximate size cremation urn required.**
The best way to determine the proper size cremation urn to purchase, would be to ask the crematorium about the amount
of cubic inches of cremains (cremation ashes) you can expect when the cremation process is complete.
We recommend that if you plan to keep all the cremains, that you should purchase a cremation urn one size larger than needed, to guarantee you have enough room. If you plan to spread or share some of the cremains
(cremation ashes), of your loved one, then the size of the cremation urn is less critical and you can go by the industry
standard. If you choose a larger size cremation urn and there is extra space inside it, you can keep special keepsakes
and mementos, of your loved one, with their cremains (cremation ashes). A human weighing over 200 pounds actually
has the same bone mass as an average size human. The bones are actually the material that makes up the cremains
(cremation ashes) that go into a cremation urn, all soft tissue is completely burned away during the cremation process. Someone
weighing 300 pounds, 400 pounds, or more their cremains (cremation ashes) should be able to fit into one of the
extra large cremation urns, which can hold 200 pounds of pre-cremain weight, because the bone mass is still the same
, as an average human. We do highly suggest that you check with your crematorium prior to ordering your cremation
urn for a loved ones weighing over 200 pounds, they will be able to help you determine the proper size cremation urn to purchase.
We have made figuring out the proper cremation urn size a very easy process, for you. Listed
below we have each of our cremation urn series stating the total weight requirements, that each cremation
urn can hold. A simple example would be if a cremation urn size states that it holds (pre-cremain weight)
"up to 32 lbs." that urn actually contains 32 cubic inches of space inside to hold the cremains (cremation
